CATCH OF THE DAY: Marshmallows (specifically the respective sub-division of Veronica/Logan shippers), today is your day to feel the feels. Since we have all recently undergone an intense 64 episode re-watch in preparation for the Veronica Mars movie, it's no surprise we've found some parallels within the series that will only amplify your love for "LoVe."

The Triple Goddess: Doppelgangers in The Vampire Diaries
THE VAMPIRE DIARIES: Anyone who watches The Vampire Dairies knows that the CW's hit series has doppelgängers coming out of its ears. Veteran doppelgängers Elena Gilbert and Katherine Pierce have been part of the show's core story since its inception. But, with the introduction of Amara, the oldest of the Petrova doppelgängers, at the beginning of the show’s fifth season, we begin to see patterns that link Elena, Katherine, and Amara to the deity of the Triple Goddess, which consists of three phases of life: Maiden, Mother, and Crone.

Love is Blind: Dramatic Irony in Covert Affairs
COVERT AFFAIRS: There's no arguing with the fact that Covert Affairs is an action show; mix together high-speed car chases, foreign locales, and a couple dozen pairs of killer heels, and it's pretty easy to predict that you'll always be on the edge of your seat. But, the show's slow-burning love affair between Annie Walker and Auggie Anderson has quietly become just as fascinating to watch as the spy game that surrounds it. By using Auggie's blindness to create a unique kind of dramatic irony, the will-they-or-won't-they of this relationship ends up playing out differently than any other on television.

The Nain Rouge: French Folklore in The Returned
THE RETURNED: The French series The Returned is more than your average zombie story. The show, which chronicles what happens when the dead of a small Alpine town begin to inexplicably reappear, constantly uses atmosphere and setting to convey a disconnect between worlds. But one character, Victor, seems to exist both inside and outside the community of the newly-arisen undead. Victor has powers the other revenants do not, as well as a much more mysterious origin. If we look at his character in connection with French folkloric tradition, however, it's possible to view Victor as a nain rouge, which has profound implications for The Returned.

Catch of the Day: The Crazy Ones is Buffy to the Bone(s)
CATCH OF THE DAY: Everyone with a pulse (vampires were not included in this survey) knows that Sarah Michelle Geller is best known for her breakout role as the title character the late, great WB Drama, Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Most recently, however, Geller took a new role as Sydney Roberts in CBS's new comedy The Crazy Ones. But, if you aren't keen with actors' names or Buffy story lines, or if you're one of those people who's been watching The Crazy Ones for Robin Williams, then this Buffy actor reference in episode 1x06 "Hugging The Now" might have passed you by.

Catch of the Day: Throwback Thursday, Vampire Edition
CATCH OF THE DAY: So far, Season 5 of The Vampire Diaries has been all about seeing double. But, in the episode "For Whom The Bell Tolls," it's also about hearing double. Songs that have played in past episodes as far back as Seasons 1 and 2 are resurrected in the episode dedicated to honoring its dead and remembering the past. Now that's what we call a Throwback Thursday.

Catch of the Day: Enter Miranda, Stage Left
CATCH OF THE DAY: There could not have been a better opportunity to introduce Miranda, the main character of ABC Family's new show Ravenswood, than in the Pretty Little Liars Halloween special, "Grave New World." Why, you may ask? Well, because even though you might recognize the episode title as a pun of Aldous Huxley's famous novel, Brave New World, the book actually gets its title from the dialogue of a character named (you guessed it) Miranda in Shakespeare's play The Tempest.

Catch of the Day: Mr. Sandman, Bring Me Some Biblical References
CATCH OF THE DAY: We all know Sleepy Hollow is loaded with references to the Book of Revelation. But, Episode 1x03, "For the Triumph of Evil," also delivered a quick nod to the writing on the wall in the Book of Daniel that you might have missed. Biblical references for the win!

Phallic Imagery and Power in Orange is the New Black
ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK: It's hard to argue with the fact that Netflix's new hit Orange is the New Black is both addicting and thought-provoking; the show provides viewers with complex female characters, unparalleled gender commentary, and a wicked good time. But, the nuanced phallic imagery, and how this imagery correlates to the show's power dynamics, is definitely (in our opinion) one of the show's most impressive attributes.

Grey's Anatomy: Let's Talk About Elevators
GREY'S ANATOMY: Let's face it. None of us would love Grey's Anatomy as much as we do without all those fantastic elevator scenes. But what is it that makes the elevator motif on this show so powerful? Well, it all goes back to 1852...

Parallel Collision: Orphan Black and Brave New World
ORPHAN BLACK: It shouldn’t be shocking that the writers of Orphan Black decided to insert a few nods to Aldous Huxley’s novel Brave New World in their new sci-fi thriller drama that has taken the Internet and social media scene by storm. But, what might be shocking is just how deep these parallels run and how many of them you may have missed—even if you’re on your fifth re-watch.
